6 Things You Learn As Director Of L!ve TV

5. Terrorism Gave L!ve TV Its Highest Ratings

News Team Assemble This is pretty serious but worth a mention. When I worked for Hewland I was based in the London Docklands and my local DLR station (the above ground tube system) was South Quay. The second next stop from South Quay is Canary Wharf and you can walk from the Docklands to Canary Wharf in just a matter of ten minutes or so. What you can't do is get close enough to the then biggest building in the UK and park a truck full of fertilizer next to it without drawing attention to yourself. Especially since the IRA tried and failed once already in 1992. So I guess you do the next best thing and park at the closest DLR station along the track that would cause the most destruction, then phone in a quick warning to the police and set it off destroying huge buildings and killing two people. It was timing and luck that hundreds more weren't killed and if you search on Google images for South Quay bomb you'll see just how devastating it was. I wasn't at L!ve TV when it went off but I heard it from about four miles away in East Ham. It sounded like weird thunder that abruptly stopped. The folks who were working on the 24th floor that night pointed cameras down to the Docklands and understandably left the building. Major news channels grabbed what was the only feed on the ground so to speak of the location. Air traffic was banned so no news helicopters and there's only two ways into the docklands by road and both were cordoned off. And so CNN, BBC and others picked up the live feed of the event from floor twenty-four and for one fleeting moment L!ve TV had viewers in the millions.
