3. Underappreciated Characters Continue To Be Overlooked

It's a sad state of affairs when Kid Flash gets more screen time on an ensemble show than he ever did on his own show. But the painful truth is that The Flash simply had no idea what to do with Wally West, so he was ultimately moved to Legends of Tomorrow. This situation is a microcosm of the entire Arrowverse because, Legends aside, the majority of the shows tend to overlook some of the core characters — and this raises some important questions about the size of each show's cast.

Much like Wally, Thea Queen was one of Arrow's most beloved characters. But this year once again saw the former vigilante overlooked as she played a background role to far less interesting characters. In fact, the show's inability to produce some worthy material for her eventually resulted in her exit. In addition, Winn Schott and James Olsen are often forgotten about on Supergirl, despite the fact that both have been compelling protagonists in previous storylines.

With the full-time departures of Keiynan Lonsdale, Willa Holland and Jeremy Jordan, the Arrowverse may never get the chance to give Wally, Thea and Winn the spotlight they deserve. But if there's one thing that the writers can learn from their absences, it's that these gems should have been appreciated more when they were part of the universe.
