6 Ups & 5 Downs From Doctor Who Series 12

1. There Is Now So Much More To The Thirteenth Doctor

Jodie Whittaker is a fantastic actress. Her tenure as the titular Time Lord thus far has been excellent. Though something that plagued her during her first series, was the severe lack of depth to the character. This was nothing on Whittaker's part, she was doing the best she could with what she was given. During series 11, she would happily gallivant throughout the Universe, slapping about her moral compass, so we had no idea exactly what kind of Doctor we were dealing with.

Come series 12, and the darkness returned. The Master, the Timeless Child, the Lone Cyberman, and lost memories, whisked away the veil of pure positivity The Doctor attempted to ooze at all moments, and instead it revealed the darker side of The Doctor we have known for many years. This Doctor, similar to Capaldi's incarnation, was much more comfortable with doing things herself rather than involving humans, even going as far as forcing her companions off-world so she could sort out whatever problems were at hand. However, this still pushed companions into the background, similar to how things very much were for two of three companions per-episode last series, but actually having a more robust character to watch instead made up for it.

The Doctor, trapped in a cell come the end of The Timeless Children is now almost an entirely new person, with new motivations. There are huge parts of her life that have been taken from her, and she's obviously wanting them back. Revolution of the Daleks may side-step the events of series 12 for all we know, but come series 13, this more refined Doctor has many questions to ask, and she definitely won't be holding back.
