6 Ups & 5 Downs From Doctor Who Series 12

2. Dhawan's Master

The BBC were surprisingly good at keeping things secret this time round. While John Simm returning in World Enough and Time and The Doctor Falls was a secret kept in a cardboard box rather than a safe, Sacha Dhawan's incarnation of The Master rocking up in the closing moments of the first episode was a true surprise indeed.

Though we only saw him at the very beginning and very end of the series, Dhawan's incarnation sure made an impact. Though there were many questions regarding his placement in the character's timeline, this unhinged, borderline insane Master was beloved by all. Imagine the ruthlessness of John Simm's Master, just with the copious amounts of thinking prior to doing removed, and pair it with the occasional theatrics of Missy, and you've got this new portrayal down. It's a shame to see that he supposedly perished after The Timeless Children, but I'm sure we'll be seeing more of him in the future.

I mean, how many times has The Master died now? We were all certain Missy was dead dead after The Doctor Falls. Oh well.
