There are plenty of things to praise Clone Wars for, but one of the hands down greatest things to come from this animated series was the introduction of Ashoka Tana to the Star Wars franchise.

Debuting in 2008's Star Wars: The Clone Wars - the movie that served as the launching point for the main show - this young Togruta became a hugely popular character in her own right. The Padawan of Anakin Skywalker, Ahsoka became a fully fledged Jedi Knight who battled in the Clones Wars and the Galactic Civil War. Appearances-wise, she later rocked up in Star Wars Rebels, before the character made her live-action bow - as played by Rosario Dawson - in The Mandalorian's second season.

Subsequently, Tano has since appeared in The Book of Boba Fett and now has her own solo series on the horizon.

Having only started shooting earlier this month, the simply-titled Ahsoka will land on Disney+ at some point towards the middle of next year. Following in the footsteps of the title character having now been brought to live-action life, Sword of Destiny's Natasha Liu Bordizzo will be appearing in the series as Star Wars Rebels' Sabine Wren. Elsewhere, Hayden Christensen will be again back in the saddle as Darth Vader, and 10 Cloverfield Lane's Mary Elizabeth Winstead has a mystery role.

Ahsoka Tano co-creator Dave Filoni is overseeing this series with The Mandalorian and The Book of Boba Fett's ever-great Jon Favreau.
