1. McCoy Was NuWho Before 2005 Came Along
Between 1987 and 1989 Sylvester McCoy was the Doctor. The thing all fans love about the show is that it's constantly adapting, staying up to date with the audience and remaining current. McCoy managed to inject new life into the show after the less-than-successful Colin Baker run, making the Doctor interesting and alien again without distracting viewers from the story. The Seventh Doctor was the Doctor for the late 80's. McCoy's performance was not only current for the years he was active, but current for 2015 as well. Indeed, McCoy's performance comes across as utterly timeless when compared to the dated backdrop he was forced to perform against. McCoy created a new interpretation of the Time Lord which would go on to inspire the eccentricities in the actors to follow. The fact that fans, critics and casual viewers often disregard the Seventh Doctor due to an unfair and unfounded criticism against the actor's performance is utterly absurd. True Whovians tend to understand that Sylvester McCoy gave a valiant attempt to keep the show going almost single-handedly and that the eventual cancellation of the programme in 1989 wasn't entirely his fault. The Seventh Doctor, once seen, is utterly unforgettable but Sylvester McCoy is, sadly, often overlooked when it comes to 'Favourite Doctors' lists - isn't it time to re-evaluate yours?
