7 Reasons Rachel Is An Utterly Horrible Character In Friends

3. The One Where She Hires An Underqualified Assistant And Sleeps With Him

Inter-office relationships are prohibited where Rachel Green works, but that didn't stop her hiring a horrifically underqualified assistant called Tag Jones €“ instead of the more than qualified Hilda €“ just because she fancied the male applicant. Despite also being highly unethical, she even tells Tag moments after giving him the job, to inform Hilda that she needs to go home. Rachel even invited Tag to Thanksgiving with all her friends, and comes onto the handsome assistant when he reveals he's split up with his girlfriend. The pair do eventually start dating and hiding their relationship at work, but the fact she'd compromise her position so readily is astonishing. Rachel Green is a more than attractive woman and has no problems with male attention, so why she feels the need to choose somebody who could eventually cause her to lose her job is beyond me. Considering how hard she worked to get herself in such a position in the first place, and how much of a workaholic she becomes as she attempts to achieve her dream, her fling with Tag Jones further highlights a different side to her that the humour of the situation covers up. Not to mention, Hilda, who Rachel admitted was perfect for the job in question, being turned down solely because she wasn't a good-looking man is unbelievable.
