7 Reasons Rachel Is An Utterly Horrible Character In Friends

2. The One Where She Gets With Ross' Best Friend Joey, And Even Accepts His Proposal Despite Just Having Ross' Baby

After just giving birth, Rachel is in bed and Joey is with her doing up his shoelace. He finds an engagement ring that had fallen out of Ross' coat, so he turns around to show Rachel in the fashion most would associate to a marriage proposal €“ on his knees with the ring outstretched. Not uttering a word to Rachel, she gets teary and says 'okay' as if to accept his proposal, but Joey still doesn't say a word to correct her of the mixup. Despite the whole incident eventually being cleared up the fact Rachel would say yes to accept his false proposal, regardless of what state she was in, is just staggering. She's only just has Ross' baby and was even talking about her engagement with Joey to her friends following the incident, so she was fully aware of her actions. The whole thing was rather bizarre. Fast-forward a couple of seasons and Rachel is once again involved with Joey. Despite her having Ross' baby, she still deems it a good idea to start a relationship with one of his best friends. Rachel and Joey share many romantic moments and come very close to properly consummating the relationship, but end up just staying friends as it becomes awkward when they try to sleep together. While nothing substantial came of the romance, it was still poor decision-making on Rachel's part to again involve Joey in a love triangle, considering Ross would be in close contact with the pair of them as he's the father of his and Rachel's child. Very odd.
