The first and most obviously essential component in order for a series to return is for the cast to be enthusiastic about such a prospect, and according to Bryan Fuller, all of Hannibal's are particularly keen on reprising their respective roles.
Both Hugh Dancy and Mads Mikkelsen have publicly declared their willingness to reprise the roles of Will and Hannibal respectively, and it wouldn't be a long shot to imagine that Laurence Fishburne would also be interested in returning as Jack Crawford. (Might I add that Fishburne's performance as the FBI director is one of his finest ever? Because it is.)
Given there's such a high level of enthusiasm to pursue the project from both Fuller and its stars, it would be daft to throw away such an opportunity. Season 4 may be out of everyone's hands given the rights situation, but when Dancy and Mikkelsen have both responded so positively to Fuller's plans, it doesn't make the frustration any easier.
