Of course, no one would be talking about Hannibal Season 4 if not for the series' lynchpin Bryan Fuller campaigning so heavily on its behalf.

Fuller, who also created shows Pushing Daisies and the recent Star Trek: Discovery, has refused to give up hope about a possible fourth season of Hannibal. He held discussions with both Amazon and Netflix about the possibility of continuing the series soon after the third season concluded, and while those discussions eventually came to nothing, the creator has refused to close the book on Dr. Lecter just yet.

Speaking to Collider on the prospect of Hannibal being picked up by Netflix, now that seasons 1-3 are streaming on the service, Fuller said:

"What I love about Netflix platforming the show now is there’s an opportunity for it to be seen as a Netflix show and maybe that will reconfigure their appetite, so to speak. But nobody has said anything to me, and believe me, like the nickel hooker on the red light district I am hanging out the window, waving my legs. They know I’m ready."

According to Fuller, the main obstacle in the series getting renewed (aside from the aforementioned rights issues with MGM), is that Hannibal is still seen as "somebody else's show". With Hannibal's arrival on Netflix galvanising interest in the series though, here's hoping that the streaming giant will come calling, and that Fuller will be able to work something out between them, the show's owners (Gaumont), and Martha De Laurentiis, who controls the rights to the Hannibal character.
