7 Reasons Why Better Call Saul Is Better Than Breaking Bad

6. The Tragedy Of Jimmy McGill

Once this has all finished, it'll be hard to see it as just a world that revolved around the antics of Walter White, because if anything it will have so much more to do with Jimmy McGill's own tale than Walter's.

McGill's story might not be at the centre of Breaking Bad but it does have its own time to shine in the series. Add Better Call Saul to that and it becomes more about the influence of Jimmy McGill's actions over Albuquerque and the empire that he built in a drive-in mall.

Better Call Saul does a great job of expanding the whole Bad universe but it is still a show that centres on James McGill-esq, and when putting the whole story into perspective it is clear that Walt & Jesse became big parts in Jimmy's story. Not the other way around.

The tragedy and downfall of Jimmy into Saul, and (presumably) finally into Gene, is so much more what the Bad universe is about now than just the tale of two meth cooks in the underground world of Albuquerque.

He facilitated pretty much everything that happened to one extent or another in both Breaking Bad and Better Call Saul. Without Saul, they would have never come into contact with Fring, or Ed Galbraith (the repairman), they also wouldn't have then had to deal with the Salamanca's or even met Mike. Without Goodman, Walt & Jesse would have been stuck in the small-time.
