7 Reasons Why Better Call Saul Is Better Than Breaking Bad
5. Its Supporting Cast
The ballad of Walter White & Jesse Pinkman will remain as brilliant as it ever was and a fundamental masterpiece in TV history. However, look at Better Call Saul's wide supporting cast and you'll know that it is not only bigger, it is also better.
The returning characters like Mike and Gus Fring have so much more to do in Saul, and the new characters like Kim Wexler and Nacho Varga have become some of the best characters in the Bad universe. Few series can boast that it gives every cast member a chance to shine but both of these series did, with Saul actually having the wider and more diverse cast of the two shows.
What makes Saul's expansive journey even better is that it found a way to expand on just about everything that Breaking Bad had made famous. The Salamanca family and their war against Fring has been a central point in the series, as has Mike's own journey from losing his son to becoming an associate of Jimmy's and a partner of Fring's. That is forgetting the whole Chuck McGill showdown and HHM's role in the earlier seasons.
Better Call Saul brings back almost everybody at some point and still fits in more characters to play with without sacrificing story or detail, making it a far better playground for its supporting actors than Breaking Bad ever was.
