7 Reasons Why Better Call Saul Is Better Than Breaking Bad

Better Call Saul not only tells us of how the characters we all know and love from Breaking Bad came about, but it also shows us what happened to Saul after the events of Breaking Bad.

When Gilligan & Gould thought to make this both a prequel and sequel to Breaking Bad, honestly they must have been huffing meth, because it was an awful idea. It should never have worked in any way, shape or form. Right up until it worked on every level that you could think of.

Looking at the length of time dedicated to Jimmy's future as Gene, by the time Saul comes to an end it will comprise an episode by itself. Seeing that come about over 6 seasons has been one of the most fascinating and torturous processes ever on television, simply because of the time we've had to wait to see it unfold.

All the events of Breaking Bad are being set up and covered in the main storyline, which of course means that the series also serves as a set up to El Camino, Jesse's finale movie, too.

So, we know where Jesse & Walt's fate lay, we know where the last gathering of the Cartel was had and by whom it was poisoned. But the question of Better Call Saul was never 'where' it has always been 'why'. Why did Jimmy end up as Saul, why did Mike follow Fring? The genius of the story is that it both walks its own path and makes better what came before.
