7 Reasons Why Fans Have Turned On Fear The Walking Dead

6. The Main Family

One of the criticisms Fear faced after its Pilot episode was the supposedly cliched main family. Many fans saw a moody teenage daughter, wild-child son, and a couple of school-teachers, one of whom is having troubles with an estranged ex-wife and his own son. People have seen those characters before in countless films and TV series'. This may have been responsible for a slight drop-off if the audience's first-impression of the pivotal family wasn't a good one. Most Walking Dead fans transferring over to the new show would've been understandably sceptical at first, and with almost any show, fans want something completely different. This meant that seeing 'cookie-cutter' characters in the first episode may have been disappointing for some. Nick and Maddie have been the standouts so far, while Travis has provided an interesting story, however Alicia needs work to shake off her tag as she's yet to really play an important role so far. If you didn't 'get' the family in the Pilot, it would've been more than easy to change the channel.
