7. A Novel Idea
The Angels Take Manhattan: The Doctor and The Ponds take a trip to New Yorkonly to find the Weeping Angels confining them to the city that never sleeps. Now, a lot of stills from The Angels Take Manhattan show Amy, The Doctor, and River (Rorys conspicuously absent from a lot of photos) obsessing over the same book. A rather old looking book, which would fit with the old time cars that were spotted at the New York shoots this past April, as well as the old time glasses Amy is spotted wearing in stills from this episode. As for the mystery book, a still reveals the title: Melody Malone. It looks like a rather pulpy looking entry on a bookshelf, most likely a 40s/50s noir mystery. But wait a momentit looks like they also use this book as a guide book for their adventure. Funny, dont travel writers write guide books to exotic/famous locales in order to help people get around? And if one refers back to The Power of Three, theyll find that Amy said she was a travel writer at the time of the episode. AND, Melody was Rivers given name by her mother, Amy. So maybe Amy writes a pulp detective novel featuring her rambunctious daughters exploits (real or fictional, the line is probably
very thin) in order to highlight what has to be done to properly survive the final Weeping Angels adventure. (Which would be an excellent callback to their origin in Blink, which showcased The Doctor helping Sally Sparrow defeat The Angels through DVD Easter Eggs.)
