6. A Long Goodbye
The Power of Three: So we see Amy and Rory jaunting off on their anniversary with The Doctor. After a failed attempt at celebration in a fancy hotel, were treated toanother failed attempt at celebration. This time, in Henry VIIIs kingdom. As Rory is keen to point out to Amy, You just married Henry VIII on our anniversary". Turns out, she accidentally agreed to wedding vows and became a piece of untold history. Also, you see Rory leave the charger under the bed. But the most telling moment is when The Doctor tells Amy, I miss you and Im running to you and Rory, before you fade from me. The Doctor knows that Amy and Rory are away. He knows that something is going to happen. In order to cope with these events, hes running to them in different points in time, out of order, so he can enjoy every moment he can spare with them. Even when Rorys Dad asks about how his past companions have fared, he responds, "Some left me, some got left behind, and somenot many, but some died. Not them, Brian. Never them." So continuing with the reverse chronology theory, The Doctor knows they wont die, get left behind (in the sense of Donna Noble), or leave him. Best guess? Theyre taken by The Angels and temporally displaced. (Theres even been set reports of a scene in which Amy is running towards the Angels and River shouting for her not to.)
