7 Things Supergirl Needs To Do Next

1. Establish Superman€™s Role

It completely understandable why the creative team would be hesitant to have the Big Blue Boy-scout appear fully on screen. This is Kara€™s story, and bringing in Superman may run the risk of overshadowing her. That, and having a Superhero as powerful as Superman, with well over a decade of experience, would probably end up undercutting all the drama. He would solve way too many problems way too fast for the story to be interesting. Here€™s the thing though, while it€™s understandable to not show Superman, him not being there kind of makes him look like an enormous jerk. They don€™t even need to really make him appear fully on screen, just clarify what role the Man of Steel has played in the life of his only living blood relative. Thankfully a lot of this stuff can be explained through a series of throw away lines. Why didn€™t Clark bring Kara to live with Ma and Pa Kent? Maybe they€™d already passed away, or were too old to raise another super powered child by the time Kara landed. Did Clark help her come to terms with her powers? Do they visit each other on holidays? Family has always been an important part of the Superman books, and it would be good to see what kind of family relationship Kara has with her closest living family member.
