7 TV Shows With Disappointing Second Seasons

1. Heroes

Great characters, great story arcs, great mysteries, great ratings and great acclaim from critics and audiences alike. Heroes was deemed the next big thing on TV after its huge debut season. Hopes were high for a worthy follow up yet Heroes would ultimately be remembered as one of TV’s biggest ever disappointments.

Season 2 opens with a wholly unnecessary jump forward in time that leads to various new questions and little of the thrills and spills provided in Season 1. Focusing heavily on new characters severely lacking the interest and personality of the Season 1 cast, the show quickly descends into an uninteresting (albeit rather unsettling) plot regarding a future virus.

Much like Friday Night Lights, Heroes season 2 takes a beating from the 07-08 writers’ strike, cutting the season in half with many of its storylines unresolved. The three seasons that followed and the Heroes: Reborn sequel all continue a sad road of lessening viewership, storytelling quality and interest.

One of the biggest missed opportunities in TV history, the questionable writing decisions throughout Season 2 cut Heroes off at the knees and prevented it from being a classic series.
