7 Ways To Bring Firefly Back

2. As A Sequel To Serenity

Serenity Given the phenomenal success of The Avengers, Joss Whedon should by rights be able get backing for Saddam: The Musical if he felt so inclined, so the possibilities of Firefly returning in some form or another have to be considered more likely than they have since Serenity made its cinematic bow in 2005. One of the few complaints about Serenity was that it didn€™t entirely capture the feel of the TV show. Given the differences between the mediums though a film set in the Firefly universe was never going to be able to completely port the distinct feeling of the show over to film. What Serenity did do was paint the vastness of the Verse onto a more expansive canvas, all within the relative constraints of a $40 million budget. Nine years later the potential for visual expansion is greater still, and less shackled by budget. This is not a huge concern though, as brilliantly accomplished as its effects have been the Firefly universe has never been about flashy visuals, and is for more reliant upon a richness and depth of character in creating a convincing and believable world. What is assured is that a Serenity film made for the same money now could achieve a lot more visually, and potentially a lot more at the box office, no doubt benefiting from having "From The Director of The Avengers" emblazoned proudly across its marketing campaign.
