8 Bizarre Conspiracy Theories About Famous TV Shows
1. The American Government Cancelled Firefly
At this point, the American space western science fiction drama (if you weren't sold before, you should be now) television series Firefly is something of a cautionary tale, proving that no matter how critically successful a show is, and no matter how passionate the fan base, some things are just beyond saving.
According to some theorists, however, the show, which was cancelled in 2002 before the entirety of its first season had aired, was cancelled less because of poor numbers and more because of government interference.
Why? Well, take the fact that the show is about a group of independent rebels fighting for civil liberties. The group want to facilitate a free-trade economy based largely on a barter system, all while following in the footsteps of Robin Hood by stealing from the rich and giving to the poor. According to theorists, this anti-government premise was garnering far too much critical excitement, especially since at the time, the Bush administration was attempting to convince the nation that it was a great idea to go to war with Iraq.
The show was cancelled, and three months later Iraq was invaded. What does it mean?
