8 Cleverest TV Series Finale Titles

7. The Iron Throne - Game Of Thrones

The Sopranos
HBO

HBO's Game of Thrones has one of the most controversial endings in the history of television, but the series finale title boils down to the pursuit, and subsequent fate, of the show's entire focal point.

All of the build up, all of the heartbreak, and all of the betrayal has, in one shape or another, stemmed out of one goal - to seize the Iron Throne. In the aftermath of Daenerys' demolition of King's Landing, it appears that a Targaryen has finally returned to the eponymous throne. However, she is promptly killed by Jon Snow after being deemed irredeemable.

Consequently, Drogon appears, and both melts down the Iron Throne and carries Daenerys' body to parts unknown. For all the trouble that has sprung from the Iron Throne, it is appropriate that it meets its end in conjunction with the series itself. Daenerys' conquest, stemming from her desire to regain her perceived birthright, also ends in a rather self-fulfilling manner.

Although the series finale may not have been what fan's wanted, there can be no denying that The Iron Throne was aptly named - a symbol of power meeting its suitable end, in concert with the closing out of one of the greatest overall TV series of all time.
