8 Game Of Thrones Actors Who Originally Auditioned For Different Roles

6. Conan Stevens - Khal Drogo

Although Gregor Clegane has since been played by Ian Whyte and Hafþór Júlíus Björnsson, Conan Stevens was the first man to tackle the Mountain. And though that was always the Australian actor's plan, he had to audition for a different part in order to get there.

Gregor wasn't in the pilot episode so, in order to get his name in with the casting directors, Stevens read for the part of Khal Drogo, which ultimately went to Jason Momoa.

That was definitely the right choice, but if Stevens had blown them away with his Drogo audition then there's a chance he would've at least been offered the role. As it is, he just looks like he's really itchy in the tape, which the actor himself uploaded to YouTube. He's arguably the best Mountain we've had, but he's no Great Khal.
