8 Great TV Shows Unfairly Cancelled In 2014

2. Hieroglyph

What it was: Chances are you haven't even heard of this next cancellation victim, and we wouldn't be surprised. Hieroglyph was - as the title suggests - a look at the world of Ancient Egypt, only this historical drama would have a supernatural twist. With a breakout cast and a pretty unique concept, the Fox newcomer had an abundance of potential that would unfortunately never be fulfilled. Hieroglyph managed to bypass the pilot stage, achieving a small victory in making the jump straight to a full series order. But what seemed like a promising step forward was simply nothing more than a rash decision by Fox, who quickly decided to shut the series down before it ever got to see the light of day. There's nothing to indicate whether or not this was a blow to modern television or a blessing, but it's still safe to say that cancelling a show before it even gets the chance to perform is an unfair decision, at best. Where it went wrong: With all the usual suspects like ratings and poor plot decisions out of the picture, we have no one to blame other than the network itself. Hieroglyph isn't the first show to get the short end of the stick, and it certainly won't be the last, but for now this unfortunate cancellation will have viewers wondering if we were all robbed of something truly great.
