8 Greatest Series Revivals In TV History

5. Buffy The Vampire Slayer

After the climatic moments of the show's 100th episode Chosen, Buffy Summers was dead in more ways than one. The show had been cancelled by Warner Bros. and the title character was cold, jumping into the portal to save Earth - and most importantly her sister - from the various hell dimensions opening up around Sunnydale. As such, Season 6 of Buffy The Vampire Slayer was a huge deal for the show, with UPN stepping in to give the show another two years, while Willow and the Scoobies resurrected the slayer with a dramatic spell that ripped Buffy out of Heaven and back into her own grave. It was a dark, dramatic opening as Buffy clawed her way out of the dirt and found herself back on Earth - her own personal Hell - an act so big that it took her a year to adjust to life once more. It allowed the show to develop into a more mature, adult series and give audiences more time in Sunnydale. Without the resurrection of Buffy and the saving of the show by UPN, audiences would not have got Once More With Feeling and a world without the Buffy musical would be a very dull one indeed.
