This resurrection no one saw coming, though given the events of the past couple of days, it has to now be taken with a pinch of salt. There were rumours of a third season of Twin Peaks as the show approached the twenty-fifth anniversary - particularly where that dream was concerned - but no one thought it would become a possibility. So Showtime deciding to bring the show back for 9 episodes in 2016 set the world ablaze with excitement. Story wise it almost makes sense that the third season would pick up a quarter of a century after the second. The last time we visited Twin Peaks the good Cooper was trapped in the Black Lodge and his evil BOB-possessed doppelgänger was about to go on a killing spree. Audrey Horne was caught up in an explosion at the bank and her father Ben was killed. There are plenty of plot threads left hanging and now audiences are finally set to see them resolved. With almost every cast member voicing their enthusiasm for returning and Kyle MacLachlan already signed up to return as Dale Cooper, fans' wishes are finally coming true. Of course, its triumphant return to our screens has been hindered by the shocking departure of David Lynch as a director, though Showtime have confirmed it will still be happening. More Twin Peaks is something fans are desperate for; now all we need are some details to put our fears of a Lynch-less series to bed.
