8 Greatest TV Battles That Ever Hit The Screen
4. Breaking Bad – To'hajiilee
A battle scene is only as good as its build up, and boy does the thirteenth episode of the fifth season of Breaking Bad deliver on that. It's one of those TV sequences in which several moving parts come together to culminate in a central climax.
Firstly, Walt attempts to recover his stolen stash of cash. Secondly, Jesse, Hank and Gomez track Walt into the desert in an attempt to apprehend him. And thirdly, Walt tries to call off a drug deal with a bunch of White Supremacists. At long last it looks like Hank has finally cornered Walt, but the White Supremacists ignore Walt's cancellation and the whole situation turns into a violent disaster. Tension is high on all sides: from the insanely deep betrayal between Hank and Walt to the devastating vitriol between Walt and Jesse, it's tough to imagine higher personal stakes.
When the Supremacists open fire on Hank and Gomez it's a shoot out made as frantic by character drama as it is the amount of guns involved, and the decision to end the episode mid-fight is absolutely genius.
