8 Greatest TV Sitcoms About Comedians

5. Maron

Not everyone loves Marc Maron's overly verbose rants about everything under the sun, but it'd be foolish to suggest that his WTF With Marc Maron podcast is number one on the iTunes charts for no reason at all - and, hell, he got a TV show out of it, so he's doing something right. Launched off the back of his aforementioned podcast, Maron plays a version of himself seemingly very close to reality, as we see him recording episodes of the audio show and experiencing awkward interactions with the close people in his life - namely his ex-wife and his sickly cats - that are practically ripped from his own anecdotes. The first couple of episodes are a little ropey, but Maron soon picks up cantankerous steam and Marc's efforts to right the perceived wrongs he encounters in his life with any force necessary are buoyed by a string of excellent guest stars, from Amy Poehler and Jeff Garlin to Tig Notaro, Aubrey Plaza and Bobcat Goldthwait.
