8 Greatest TV Sitcoms About Comedians

4. 30 Rock

One of the most popular comedy series of recent years (and with good reason), 30 Rock was created by and starred ex-SNL writer and performer Tina Fey as Liz Lemon, the showrunner of TGS With Tracy Jordan. Taking its cue from The Larry Sanders Show and applying it to sketch comedy with a breakneck pace and assorted array of disturbing and delightful cast members, 30 Rock was Fey's outlet for her craziest ideas and an opportunity to take potshots at her own insecurities, ranging from her inability to date the right men to starting vendettas with exactly the wrong people and never failing to say the wrong thing. Backed up by a dazzling supporting cast that included Alec Baldwin, Jack McBrayer and Jane Krakowski and executive produced by SNL's legendary showrunner Lorne Michaels, 30 Rock is admirable for the pure, nonstop hit rate of jokes per minute, and it's frankly miraculous that so few ever fell flat - one we should all be thankful for.
