Netflix's Marvel shows may soon be drawing to a close, and though there have been both highs and lows, one thing Marvel fans should be able to agree on is that there hasn't been a shortage of some seriously compelling performances in each and every one.

Charlie Cox, Deborah Ann Woll and Vincent D'Onofrio - along with several others - made Marvel's Daredevil one of the most authentic comic book adaptations of all time. Similarly, Krysten Ritter and David Tennant both managed to make the first season of Jessica Jones a clear and obvious standout, but one actor who deserves particular praise - especially so, given the release of Punisher Season 2 - is Jon Bernthal, who has embodied the part of the eponymous character since the second season of Daredevil premiered all the way back in 2016.

Frank Castle was a beloved highlight of that show, and while his solo series has been, at times, inconsistent, Bernthal has remained as consistent as ever.

No one knows if he'll get the chance to reprise the role in the future, but one thing is certain: no other actor has managed to embody the character as well as he. There are a dozen or-so inflections in his performance that have helped, but here are the ones that transformed it into something truly special.
