8 Lovable TV Characters That Would Be Insufferable In Real Life

3. Doctor Who

Matt Smith Doctor Who And we come to a character who has been portrayed in many different incarnations, all of them utterly irritating in their own special way. From the grim dourness of Christopher Eccleston to the forced eccentricities of the David Tennant and Matt Smith portrayals, Doctor Who has, since his revival, largely annoyed the living Hell out of me. Older versions were also grating: Sylvester McCoy's twerpy Time Lord, and bland performances by Peter Davison and Paul McGann being particular lowlights. I did like Colin Baker, though. Maybe it's indicative of my inability to buy into the Whovian universe, but I find it hard to believe that there isn't something inherently dislikable about a character that annoys me in 11 different forms. Peter Capaldi happens to be one of my favourite actors, so maybe the next incarnation will be the acid test for me.
