8 Multi-Doctor Adventures Beyond The World Of Doctor Who
1. Capaldi And Baker In Selling Hitler
During the filming of Genesis of the Daleks, Tom Baker and producer Philip Hinchcliffe met with Keith Miller and some other Doctor Who fans. Miller was the secretary of the Official Doctor Who Fan Club, and over the course of their conversation - released on the Season 12 Blu-ray boxed set - Hinchcliffe mentions a young fan called Peter Capaldi from "another fan club".
Miller and Capaldi's rivalry for control of Doctor Who fandom is well documented, but who knows if Tom Baker remembered the name when he starred alongside Peter in 1991's miniseries Selling Hitler.
It's dramatised the scandal that erupted when German magazine Stern published Adolf Hitler's diary, which was revealed to be a fake. Peter Capaldi played Thomas Walde, a reporter with Stern who shares a number of scenes with Tom Baker's Manfred Fischer, the CEO of the magazine's parent company.
For Capaldi, it must have been a dream come true, and if you watch closely you can almost see the delight in the young actor's eyes at sharing the screen with Doctor Who.
