Often considered the darker adult cousin to classic Doctor Who, Blake's 7 follows a band of outcasts and rebels across the universe attempting to destroy the evil Federation who rule most of the galaxy.

Broadcast between 1978 and 1981, Blake's 7 had an incredibly low budget but had characters and storylines so strong it quickly became a fan favourite across its four season run. Blake's 7 is somewhat unique as a sci-fi, as the gang of rebels aboard their ship The Liberator, rarely win against the Federation, more often than not ending up in a worse position than when the episode started.

The most interesting thing about Blake's 7 is the character drama and infighting between Blake and fan favourite character Kerr Avon, a calculated emotionless criminal who in near every episode makes viewers question his loyalty to Blake and his crew mates. Several recurring characters appear throughout the show, including main villain Supreme Commander Servalan and her enforcing officer Space Commander Travis.

The series is somewhat of a slow burner, as it takes near 5 episodes before the band of rebels is assembled, but if you stick with it you are guaranteed a good time with one of the finest shows the BBC ever produced.
