8 Reasons Batman Belongs On Television
4. Bat Gadgets
You can only cram so many Bat-Gadgets into a 2-hour movie. You can cram a whole lot more into season of television.
One of the (many) cool things about Christopher Nolan's grounded approach to Batman was how it answered a pretty valid question from a previous Batman film: "Where does he get those wonderful toys?"
A lot of other Batman movies and shows in the past have treated his gadgets like Deus Ex Machina. He gets into a sticky situation, and out of nowhere produces an outrageously specific gadget perfect for dealing with that exact situation, despite the fact that we've never seen or heard of that thing before that moment. Exhibit A: Shark-Repellant (Batman '66). Exhibit B: Retractable Ice Skates (Batman & Robin).
That's not to say the specific gadgets don't have a place on the utility belt - quite the contrary. A Batman TV show could use Bat-Gadgetry to show off his problem solving skills, having to carefully analyze a situation, and then conceive and create a new gadget to help him in that scenario. His gadgets should go beyond just tools for fighting crime to become storytelling tools to develop him as a character.
