8 Reasons Why How I Met Your Dad Is A Terrible Idea

1. Some Things Are Just Better Left Alone

Joey1 Writers and network execs have ruined many a memory of our beloved TV shows with failed attempts to create spin off series and what they apparently fail to learn is that sometimes it really isn't worth it. Whilst it is obviously possible to piggyback on the original show's success by creating spin-off with a supporting character or similar element (Frasier seems the most obvious example), more often than not, something is lost in the reinvention and we're just left with an ugly mess embarrassment. So when a show has been as successful as HIMYM, surely it's better to just let it end with dignity? Let's face it, if Friends can't do it with the abomination that was Joey, writers should perhaps take heed from shows that have gone before them and just leave it alone. It obviously remains to be seen whether How I Met Your Dad will mimic its predecessor's huge success or pale into insignificance but with HIMYM's writing in the state that it's in now, it feels almost impossible to see what more they can squeeze out of the HIMYM sponge. They're struggling to finish the current series. How are they going to extract an entire new spin-off? Let's hope they have some magic left and they're saving some big secret that will add a new twist to this already tired premise but at the moment it seems there is only one thing left to say. It's going to be ter... wait for it... rible! How are you feeling HIMYM fans? Will you be watching with party hats and balloons? Or hugging a picture of Neil Patrick Harris and the gang crying 'it's just not the same!' Share your thoughts below.
