8 Shows To Fill That Mr. Robot Shaped Hole In Your Life

6. The Returned (Les Revenants)

Humans Channel 4
Netflix

What would you do if someone you thought to be dead reappeared one day as though nothing had happened? We're not talking about a 'hand bursting through the earth' kind of situation. We're not talking about any kind of standard zombie flick situation at all, in fact. They just turn up one day. That's the question posed by Les Revenants.

Les Revenants observes this situation from a number of angles. One being, how would you deal with this when you're still grieving that person's very recent death, for example? Or how would you deal with seeing this person again when you've only just processed their death after a long period of grief and therapy? Beyond that however, the underlying mystery of how in the holy hell this happened gradually unravels and it only gets crazier as each episode passes.

On top of all of that, bloody Mogwai of all bands composed the soundtrack! What else could you want, right?

Just for clarification: yes, I do mean the original French series and not the trashbag American remake - which left a lot to be desired, to say the least.

Johnny sat by the fire, idly swirling his brandy, flicking through the pages of War and Peace, wondering whether it was pretentious to write his bio in the third person.
