Announced in May 2022, Star Wars: Skeleton Crew will be created and executive produced by Chris Ford and Spider-Man director Jon Watts. The series stars Jude Law, and will centre around a group of children trying to find their way home in a post-Imperial galaxy. At Star Wars Celebration, Watts reiterated that whilst “it stars four kids, it is not a kids show”.

When asked about the show by Entertainment Weekly, Jon Favreau, the co-mastermind of the Mando-verse, said, "We hopped on a Zoom call, they [Watts and Ford] pitched through what it was, just the very basic strokes. I was like, 'This is great!' It focused on young people. It's always good to have new characters coming in, and there are so many different tones now in Star Wars."

Favreau continued, saying, "There's this cohesive group of stories being told, thanks to all these filmmakers that are contributing".

So, Skeleton Crew will be adding to the post-Return of the Jedi narrative, headed by Jon Favreau and Dave Filoni. Despite their latest offering, The Book of Boba Fett, being somewhat of a misstep, it appears that Skeleton Crew will more closely resemble the quality storytelling of The Mandalorian.
