8 Things Non-Fans Don't Understand About Doctor Who
1. His Name Isn't Actually Doctor Who
While it may seem absolutely mad that this even needs saying, there are those within the fandom that will have experienced the sheer boundless frustration that is trying to explain the nature of the Doctor's name and the name of the show.
While the mystery behind the Doctor's true name has been played up at a number of points throughout the show, the conclusion that is usually reached is that the name isn't really important. The Doctor expresses that all that matters is "Doctor" is the name he chooses to use, and he has his reasons for doing so, and most fans have come to accept that it isn't likely we'll ever get any more than that.
But those uninitiated in the lore of Doctor Who assume that the show's title is also the name of the protagonist, and trying to explain that it's more a question than a name usually prompts the response: "well, where's the question mark?"
The urge to facepalm may ensue, but if you're ever asked about the question mark, politely show them a picture of the Seventh Doctor's clothes and walk away.
