8 Things Non-Fans Don't Understand About Doctor Who

2. The Irrational Fear Of Statues

First introuced in series 3 of the revival series, the Weeping Angels are one of the Doctor's most terrifying recurring antagonists.

A species of quantum-locked humanoids, the Weeping Angels possess the ability to send their victims through time, then energise themselves with the remaining time energy of the victim's life.

The scariest thing about the Angels is their quantum-locked nature, meaning that they can't move when you're looking at them. The idea of a monster that always appeared to be still but would move menacingly with the intent of killing or transposing someone through time was something that proved to be particularly unsettling for fans, especially after seeing the effects that living out your entire life in the past could have on a person during the episode "Blink".

Many fans of the show will be familiar with a certain sense of unease whenever around a statue, and even if it might look mad to those who haven't seen the show, always do their best to keep their eyes on any statue they encounter - just in case.
