3. Doctor Who Needs To Lose Steven Moffat
At this point, Doctor Who has become a bit of a self-indulgent mess. Though actor Peter Capaldi has been praised for his performance as the Twelfth Doctor portraying a more serious, dramatic character (though still with the capacity to be silly) than the show has seen in a while the episodes themselves continue to divide fans and critics. The common denominator is show-runner Steven Moffat, who has been accused of firstly sticking around too long, but more significantly attempting to be too clever. The truth is that Moffat has run out of interesting material to write, regurgitating the same villains series after series and attempting to find new ways to look at the same old stuff (the Daleks say exterminate because they're charging their weapons, the Master is back but now he's a woman). Aside from the multitude of criticisms that have been levelled at Moffat's writing from being sexist and misogynist to trying to pander to certain socially aware corners of the internet through faux-progressive plots and characters he's just been around for far too long. The man has been head writer for almost eight years, for Who's sake. If anything, Doctor Who should focus on streamlining its plots, returning to its more traditional sci-fi roots. On top of that, if Moffat doesn't leave in 2016, the show will continue to waste Peter Capaldi's potential through continued weak writing and over-the-top stories. The show needs fresh blood. It's time for Moffat to go.
