8 Times Robin Outsmarted Batman

4. Tim Drake Stops His Future Self - Titans Tomorrow

DC Comics

At several points over the years, comic book readers have been treated to a potential future that sees Tim Drake take on the Batman mantle.

When looking at all of the Robins, Tim is easily the most like Bruce Wayne in his ways. A genius level intellect, the skills of a true tech wizard, a multitude of fighting styles, and with a fondness for working in brooding solitude, the third person to take on the Robin name is very much Batman-in-waiting.

Back in 2004 and 2005, Geoff Johns and Mike McKone's Titans Tomorrow story was one such tale that gave a glimpse into the future - and indeed, this was very much a future in which Tim took on the role of Batman.

This future Tim Drake has one notable difference to the Bruce Wayne version of Batman, for Tim's Dark Knight uses a gun to take down criminals. And not just any gun, for Drake has modified the exact same gun that was used to kill Thomas and Martha Wayne, and he's used it to kill off every major rogue that Gotham has to offer.

Before this older Tim is returned to the future, he's desperate to wipe the younger Tim's memory of their meeting. Fortunately for the present-day Drake, he's able to counter all of this with his trusty staff, rendering his future self unconscious and proving that the optimism of youth can topple the cynicism that so often comes with experience.

Once described as the Swiss Army Knife of WhatCulture, Andrew can usually be found writing, editing, or presenting on a wide range of topics. As a lifelong wrestling fan, horror obsessive, and comic book nerd, he's been covering those topics professionally as far back as 2010. In addition to his current WhatCulture role of Senior Content Producer, Andrew previously spent nearly a decade as Online Editor and Lead Writer for the world's longest-running genre publication, Starburst Magazine, and his work has also been featured on BBC, TechRadar, Tom's Guide, WhatToWatch, Sportkskeeda, and various other outlets, in addition to being a Rotten Tomatoes-approved film critic. Between his main dayjob, his role as the lead panel host of Wales Comic Con, and his gig as a pre-match host for Wrexham AFC games, Andrew has also carried out a hugely varied amount of interviews, from the likes of Robert Englund, Kane Hodder, Adrienne Barbeau, Rob Zombie, Katharine Isabelle, Leigh Whannell, Bruce Campbell, and Tony Todd, to Kevin Smith, Ron Perlman, Elijah Wood, Giancarlo Esposito, Simon Pegg, Charlie Cox, the Russo Brothers, and Brian Blessed, to Kevin Conroy, Paul Dini, Tara Strong, Will Friedle, Burt Ward, Andrea Romano, Frank Miller, and Rob Liefeld, to Bret Hart, Sting, Mick Foley, Ricky Starks, Jamie Hayer, Britt Baker, Eric Bischoff, and William Regal, to Mickey Thomas, Joey Jones, Phil Parkinson, Brian Flynn, Denis Smith, Gary Bennett, Karl Connolly, and Bryan Robson - and that's just the tip of an ever-expanding iceberg.
