8 Times Robin Outsmarted Batman

3. Damian Wayne Gets One Over A Murderous Dark Knight - Battle For The Cowl

Jason Todd
DC Comics

In Battle for the Cowl, Gotham was left with a Batman-shaped hole after Bruce Wayne's death in Final Crisis.

While Dick Grayson was reluctant to pick up the cape and cowl, one person who was more than happy to become Batman was Jason Todd. And in typical Jason fashion, the dark was well and truly put in the Dark Knight nickname during Todd's tenure as the Bat.

Complete with an itchy trigger finger, Jason's Batman was a murderous one. So much so, that Tim Drake decided to don his own Batsuit and hunt Todd down. For Tim, this didn't work out too well, with Jason nearly killing him once they finally did battle.

As far as Jason Todd was concerned, Tim Drake was dead. Having left Tim with fatal wounds, Todd's attention was soon switched to Dick Grayson in a fight that Dick would eventually win - Grayson then finally accepting his fate as the next Batman.

Despite Damian Wayne having earlier been left wounded at the hands of Jason, Damian (with the assistance of Squire) would, unbeknown to Todd's Batman, return to the scene of the fight and rescue the bloody, unconscious Drake from certain death - getting one over on the Jason Todd incarnation of Batman, as the young Damian Wayne continued his ascension to becoming the next Robin.
