2. Toph Bei-Fong (Avatar: The Last Airbender)
Learning the talent from the sightless Badger-moles that live near her home, Toph Bei-Fong defies the low expectations of her overprotective parents, becoming a gifted Earth-bender. Using this ability, Toph is able to 'see' via sensing vibrations in the earth.
Impressed by Toph's talent, Avatar Aang recruits her as his Earth-bending teacher. She hides her handicap so well that a running joke has the rest of Team Avatar regularly forget that Toph is blind.
Later in the series, Toph performs a seemingly impossible feat when she invents metal-bending, by focusing on the molecules of earth within the metal. In sequel series Legend Of Korra, Toph is the retired former head of Republic City's police force. She trained a whole generation of metal-benders, including her own daughters, Lin and Suyin.
