8 TV Moments That Didn't Live Up To The Hype

7. A Musical Grey's Anatomy

When a series has been on for as long as Grey's Anatomy, it's not unusual for the showrunner to shake things up a bit. Typically that comes in the form of killing off a major character, which happens a lot on the show. Then, there was the time Grey's Anatomy did a musical episode.

This was a change of format, which was supposed to be fun and entertaining, so ABC gave it the appropriate amount of hype.

After all, who wouldn't want to see their favorite characters on a serious show dealing with the painful reality of surgery break into a singing number?

As it happens, most people aren't looking for that kind of change in format in a show that had, up to that point, been doing the same thing for six years. The fans were divided over the episode, and while some loved it, there were plenty who didn't appreciate what it was trying to do.

That's not to say the actors didn't have the talent to sing — after all, Sara Ramirez (Callie Torres) has a Tony on her mantle for a reason. Still, it was an unusual episode, and out-of-body experiences leading to unusual and fantastical situations don't always work with the fans, regardless of the hype.
