The art of the reunion special is a dangerous game, as they can either be a rewarding experience or a failed rehash of a show's glory days. However, the rewards often outweigh the losses, as the original shows will always exist and getting more of them isn't always a bad thing.

The recent Friends reunion proves that taking a walk down memory lane can be a success, so why not try with other properties? Friends is not the only programme that deserves a second glance, as many other projects still have plenty of potential, despite being off the air for some time.

The following TV shows all have large audiences who would love to see where life has taken the leading characters. Plus, not all of them got the chance to finish their stories properly, meaning that a reunion special could be the only way for them to conclude satisfyingly.

With the world of modern streaming at our fingertips, anything is possible, so let's hope some of these shows get a new lease on life, and we can revel in the nostalgia of revisiting these classics.

8. The Inbetweeners

Inbetweeners

Friends managed to prove that you can create an excellent reunion special with a talk show format and a nostalgic exploration of the show. The Inbetweeners: Fwends Reunited special of 2019, however, didn't please fans as much.

The backlash to this chat show inspired by the classic Channel 4 series was massive, as fans felt like they'd been cheated out of a new episode. The overproduced, awkward studio show was nothing like the gritty and clumsy world of The Inbetweeners, and the best way to make up for it would be to give the viewers what they wanted in the first place.

After the series closed its doors, viewers still got the chance to explore the antics of Will, Neil, Simon and Jay with two movies, both of which impressed audiences as they took the spirit of the show and blew it up to the big screen. But, there's a lot of potential to bringing them back to something more grounded.

Seeing the crew return to Rudge Park Comprehensive as graduates or coming back together for a family event would be a great chance to look at the series in a new light. Viewers could see how the characters getting older has impacted the way they behave, or they could laugh at how little they've changed.

The possibilities are bant-iful.
