8 TV Show Reboots You Didn't Know Were In The Works

5. Perry Mason

The Original: Perry Mason was one of the longest-running legal dramas in history, yet strangely, you never hear anybody mention it today.

The show starred Raymond Burr (who film fans will recognise from Hitchcock's Rear Window) as the title character, an LA criminal defence lawyer who typically handles murder cases. The show won numerous Emmys and quickly became one of the most popular on the air.

The Reboot: HBO will be hoping that the second time's the charm with their forthcoming reboot, after an attempt at resurrecting Perry Mason flopped with just 15 episodes in 1973.

Their version is set to star Robert Downey Jr, and will favour short-run seasons of around eight episodes.

Writers Rolin Jones and Ron Fitzgerald are currently penning scripts, but with Downey's jam-packed schedule (which, to be fair, may clear up once we learn what happens in Avengers 4) to consider, it's hard to say whether it'll move any further.

Danny has been with WhatCulture for almost nine years, and is currently Doctor Who Editor and WhoCulture Channel Manager, overseeing all of WhatCulture's Whoniverse coverage. He has been writing and video editing for 10+ years, and first got a taste for content creation after making his own Doctor Who trailers and uploading them to YouTube (they're admittedly a bit rusty by today's standards). If you need someone to recite every Doctor Who episode in order or to tell you about the making of 1988's Remembrance of the Daleks, Danny is the person to ask.
