8 Unanswered Questions From Stranger Things Season 3
7. Will There Be A New Hawkins' Lab?
Hawkins' Lab was brought to a close in the previous season, after Nancy, Johnathan and Murray joined forces to expose them to the public. With the gate closed and danger seemingly thwarted, there was no need or place for a government building in the Indiana town. This might have been a good thing, had Russians not invaded Hawkins in its wake.
The lack of government presence in the town left it wide open and vulnerable to a stealthy invasion. The US military and Dr Sam Owens, the nice doctor from season 2, returned in the third's season penultimate episode at Hopper's request to retaliate against the Russian forces. Set in 1985, Stranger Things 3 takes place during a post-cold war era of America where communism was seen as a great, fearful threat. Eleven's powers were initially exploited to spy on the Soviets by Dr Brenner in season 1.
Could this mean that Hawkins Lab - or another government building - could re-establish itself in town as a cause of the Russian infiltration? If so, how will the residents of Hawkins react, particularly after the town has now been scandalized in the media due to it's strange happenings?
