5. Zatanna

You'll struggle to find a character as universally loved as Zatanna Zatara, DC's most famous magician.

A traditional entertainer and a crimefighter to boot, a Zatanna series would allow for a lighter take on the DCU, and would most likely feature the character balancing her life as a professional with her commitment to fighting a crime as a member of the Justice League, or - more specifically - its supernatural contingent.

Zatanna is currently poised for a turn on the big screen with the upcoming Dark Universe, but the project has been gestating for quite some time now. With no solid director in mind, and with Universal having already stolen the film's title, there's cause to be pessimistic about that project's chances of reaching cinemas anytime soon.

It would be a massive shame, however, if Zatanna was held back from getting any live action appearance in the meantime. The character is more than capable of anchoring her own series, especially if it intersected with the other supernatural properties of the DCU. And, while we're again faced with the prospect of a del Toro project dissipating into nothing, it's as good a time as any for DC to focus their supernatural attentions elsewhere. Hopefully on the small screen.
