Pfft, and people said westerns were dead.

It's clear that the genre is experiencing something of a resurgence on all manner of mediums, and, while the film of the same name was pretty dire, the Hex of the comics possesses all the potential necessary to make a live action adaptation work. Given the success of HBO's Deadwood, along with other shows like Hatfield & McCoys, it's clear that there's an audience out there ready to get invested in the genre - especially one that crosses over into more a more comics-based audience too.

For the uninitiated, Hex is one of DC's many western characters. A former soldier who defected from the Confederacy when Abraham Lincoln issued the Emancipation Proclamation, Hex went on to become one of the west's most prolific bounty hunters, and even eventually headed east to solve crimes in Gotham City. The character has a massive history, and indeed, an even cooler aesthetic to draw from to create a convincing series - one that would satisfy both western and comic book fans alike.

The prospect of having Thomas Jane reprise his role as Hex from 2011's DC Showcase is also a welcome one, especially if Linda Hamilton (who played the short's femme fatale) was involved too.
