8 Unusual Demands Made By Guest Stars On Family Guy

5. Robert Downey Jr. - Asked To Produce An Episode

Family Guy Liam Neeson

He is all but unrecognisable in the role to the point that you genuinely wouldn’t know it was him before the end credits rolled, but Robert Downey Jr. appeared in season four of Family Guy as Lois’ estranged brother, Patrick.

Today, the actor is one of the biggest stars in Hollywood thanks to his decade as the face of the Marvel Cinematic Universe, but he wasn’t always such a sought after figure. Personal issues made RDJ something of a risk for many years, but in 2005 he was brought in to the world of Family Guy by Seth MacFarlane.

The role actually came about by Downey getting in touch with the show himself. His son was apparently such a fan that he wanted to get involved in any way he could. He initially asked for a producing role on an episode, but instead the Fat Guy Strangler character was created for him.

Lois’ brother was discovered to be living in a mental institution, and though he seemed completely normal at first, he soon showed his true colours with his imaginary wife and blood lust for people of Peter’s size. Robert Downey Jr. brought both sides of the character to life wonderfully, though he wouldn't return to Quahog seven years later when Patrick did.

This standard nerd combines the looks of Shaggy with the brains of Scooby, has an unhealthy obsession with the Marvel Cinematic Universe, and is a firm believer that Alter Bridge are the greatest band in the world.
