6. Alex Hirsch Wanted To See What It's Like On Enemy Turf
Known for his creation of hit Disney XD animation series Gravity Falls, it’s only fitting that Alex Hirsch was given a role on the show. Hirsch and the creator of Rick and Morty, Justin Roiland, are best mates, so it was about time Roiland listened to Hirsch’s demands and gave him a spot on the show.
His character is known as Toby Matthews, a very regular American school boy who Summer has a fat crush on. The episode is titled Big Trouble in Little Sanchez and follows the story of how Tiny Rick befriends Toby and then manages to get him to ask Summer to throw a party at her house. As the night comes to an end, Tiny Rick turns everyone against Summer and ultimately cock-blocks her chances of getting with Toby.
The blonde-haired, goateed teen is mostly modelled off the appearance of his voice actor, and you can tell the two friends had fun with this character behind the scenes. Toby’s role is short-lived as he is abducted by the Galactic Federation who then use his brain to create a short film.
